Journalistic Learning Initiative (JLI) Launches JWriterPro and JMediaPro Suites of AI-Powered Online Writing Coaches 

San Diego, CA — April 14, 2024 — The Journalistic Learning Initiative (JLI) is proud to announce the launch of two groundbreaking suites of AI-powered online writing coaches: JWriterPro and JMediaPro. These innovative tools are designed to revolutionize journalism education, providing invaluable support to both educators and students. 

Building upon the success of, released in November 2023 and utilized over 10,000 times worldwide in its first 90 days, JWriterPro and JMediaPro represent a significant expansion of capabilities. Inspired by the legacy of Edward R. Murrow, set the standard for ethical AI writing tools, and the new suites continue in this tradition. The tools were created by JLI in partnership with MIT Media Lab developers at 

JWriterPro offers an array of features specifically tailored to enhance various aspects of journalism, including feature writing, opinion pieces, sports reporting, photojournalism, and broadcast journalism. Meanwhile, JMediaPro introduces cutting-edge AI coaches for video storytelling and audio storytelling, providing comprehensive support for multimedia journalism. will remain free for all users, ensuring accessibility for educators and students worldwide. However, JWriterPro and JMediaPro will be available through a nominal monthly subscription fee. 

It’s important to note that JLI’s AI coaches do not write for students or provide them with answers. Instead, they serve as guides, fostering critical thinking skills and promoting ethical AI use. By empowering students to hone their journalistic skills responsibly and ethically, these tools aim to elevate the standards of journalism education. 

Announced at the ASU+GSV conference in San Diego on April 14th, JWriterPro and JMediaPro are now available to the public.
