Hey Ida, what is opinion writing?

“Opinion writing is a form of journalism where writers express their personal views on topics ranging from everyday issues to global concerns. These articles, including editorials, commentaries, and op-eds, provide arguments and insights supported by credible evidence to persuade or inform readers. Unlike news articles that report facts impartially, opinion pieces are clearly marked as the writer’s perspective and aim to engage readers in considering different viewpoints.

Ida B. Wells-Barnett (July 16, 1862 – March 25, 1931) was a prominent journalist, activist, and researcher, in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. She battled sexism, racism, and violence. Wells dedicated her career to combating prejudice and violence, and advocating for African-American equality—especially that of women. She was one of the founders of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP).
